Be persistent: Volunteer managers are
busy people. In some organizations these individuals may be doing
more than one job. If they don’t get back to you in a timely manner
feel free to email or call them.
Don’t over commit: Make sure your
volunteer hours fir into your busy schedule. Start out slow, you can
always add hours.
Be responsible: Show up on time and
follow through with what you say you’ll do. The organization is
counting on you just as they would a paid staff.
Go to training: These classes will help
prepare you to do the volunteer job.
Be patient: You may have to work your
way through several positions before getting to the one you really
want.
